DESCRIPTION
This four-part series supports early childhood and family-serving professionals in understanding and responding to the experiences of grief and loss that may affect immigrant and refugee families. The series will also highlight strengths and sources of resilience within children, families, cultures, and communities. Participants will gain practical strategies for creating supportive environments, honoring family and cultural practices, and building rituals, routines, and connections that can help children and families navigate loss and move forward.
In session 1, participants will explore how grief may be expressed through young children’s behaviors, emotions, play, and development. Participants will also learn to recognize common grief responses and identify when additional support or referral may be needed.
