Immigrant Health Curriculum

Medical professional measuring height of teenage boyThe Center of Excellence for Immigrant Child Health and Wellbeing is working with residents from both campuses to develop a comprehensive immigrant health curriculum. We are fortunate to have two large residency program that train over 120 pediatric residents. Our residents are working together to develop a curriculum that spans the three years of their training.

Focus of the curriculum will include topics such as:

  • New immigrant clinical exams
  • Unique challenges providing care to immigrant patients
  • Mental health issues
  • Exploring community-based organizations supporting immigrant families
  • Legal issues specific to our immigrant population

DOCUMENTARY: A PLACE TO BREATHE explores the universality of trauma and resilience through the eyes of immigrant and refugee healthcare practitioners and patients. This 86-minute documentary intertwines the personal journeys of those who are transcending their own obstacles by healing others.
