Workshop Description:

This training will explore the topic of pre and post-immigration stressors/trauma within the immigrant/refugee community. The goal of this training is to spread awareness about extended exposure to trauma and how that impacts the immigrant/refugee community. In addition, this training will also reflect on logistical concerns such as reasons for low incidence of care utilization within and policies affecting the immigrant/refugee community.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will learn about pre and post immigration stressors/ trauma within the immigrant/refugee community.
  2. Participants will be able to identify interventions that are culturally responsive to immigrant clients and their families.
  3. Participants will gain a better understanding about the current policies affecting this population.
