Access Community For over 100 years, Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland has been in the community providing healthcare and resources for families. Access Community was created to give the community access to the same high quality resources we refer families to at the FIND desk in the clinic. With so many wrong doors out there, we want to make sure when you need resources that you are sent to warm, welcome and open doors.

Ramadan Resources for Medical Providers
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a time of fasting, prayer, charity, and self-discipline. From dawn to sunset, those who fast refrain from food, drink, and other physical needs, using this time for spiritual renewal and strengthening connections with family, community, and faith. The fast is broken at sunset with iftar, often beginning with dates and water, followed by a meal shared with loved ones.
Many of our patients and colleagues will be observing this sacred time, and as healthcare providers, we have an opportunity to approach their experiences with cultural humility and understanding. By recognizing and respecting the significance of Ramadan, we can provide compassionate and inclusive support—whether through thoughtful scheduling, awareness of fasting-related health considerations, or simply acknowledging and honoring this important month.
